DreamTeams is designed for neurodivergent adults and young adults (and anyone else) who would like to participate in regular volunteer community service. You do not need prior volunteer or work experience – just a willingness to roll up your sleeves, engage, learn, and support the rest of your team.
We partner with community organizations all throughout the DMV, including Montgomery, Arlington, and Fairfax Counties.
DreamTeams also organizes weekend volunteer opportunities for small groups. Reach out if you are interested in learning more. Here are some sample activities:
The ideal candidate is someone who wants to add volunteer community service to their regular schedule of activities, or people looking for something social and productive to do in their spare time. It was designed for people with IDD or other disabilities who may not be interested in or able to find full-time employment, but it is open to all. Most of our participants are adults and young adults aged 21 – 49.
Some of our worksites may not be able to accommodate individuals who need a full-time support person or job coach, or have other significant support needs. If you are not sure whether DreamTeams is right for you, please contact us and we’ll set up a call.
No! Just a willingness to pitch in and be part of a team. Please note, we do expect participants to follow any guidelines and protocols of the partner site (e.g., masks, handwashing, restricted areas, etc.)
Participation in DreamTeams during our pilot phase (until June 2027) is free of charge. Starting July 1, 2027, individual participants will pay a $50 monthly membership fee to help cover our operating costs and pay our coaches. Subsidies will be available to anyone who is unable to pay the monthly membership fee.
DreamTeams is a nonprofit supported entirely by philanthropy, and we are grateful for contributions of any amount. If you are interested in supporting us, please consider making a donation.
Call us! We will pick a service opportunity that fits with your schedule and add you to the team.
Many of our participants come once or twice a week; others come only once or twice a month. There is no minimum attendance requirement.
Once you join our mailing list, you’ll receive an email with a list of upcoming volunteer service opportunities. But remember, spots fill up quickly, so be sure to select the events that fit your schedule and reserve your place.
Becoming a DreamTeams coach is an ideal part-time work opportunity for anyone with a passion for inclusion and service to the community. It is also ideal for special education teachers in training and/or social work students looking for hands-on service hours.
If you are interested in coaching, please reach out to us for more information: info@dreamteams.org
