DreamTeams is for neurodivergent adults, aged 21 and above, with mild intellectual and developmental disabilities. You do not need prior work or volunteer experience – just a willingness to roll up your sleeves, engage, learn, and support the rest of your team.
DreamTeams also welcomes neurotypical young adults to join our teams – invite your friends!
DreamTeams volunteers pay a monthly membership free, which covers the cost of transportation to and from host sites and coaching. Active members can volunteer throughout the month, as often as they like, based on their availability and interests.
Please complete our prospective member interest form with your background information and contact details. We’ll schedule a call to answer your questions and see if DreamTeams is a good fit.
DreamTeams partners with community organizations all throughout the DMV, including Montgomery, Arlington, and Fairfax counties. Our partner sites include community food banks, shelters and soup kitchens, thrift shops, community centers, and community gardens.
DreamTeams is an ideal part-time work opportunity for anyone with a passion for community inclusion and community service.
If you are interested in being a team coach, please reach out to us: info@dreamteams.org
DreamTeams is open to neurotypical and neurodivergent young adults with mild cognitive and developmental challenges, aged 21 – 40. The ideal candidate is someone who is seeking employment or additional work hours, and is looking for something productive and fun to do in their spare time.
DreamTeams is not able to accommodate individuals who need a full-time support person or job coach, or have other significant support needs. If you are not sure whether to apply, please contact us and we’ll set up a call to discuss.
No! Just a willingness to pitch in and be part of a team. Please note, we do expect volunteers to follow any guidelines and protocols of the partner site (e.g., masks, handwashing, restricted areas, etc.)
The current cost of monthly membership is $250, and active members can participate in as many activities as they wish. Membership covers the cost of the team coaches and transportation to/from the meeting point to the project location.
Members also receive DreamTeams t-shirt which must be worn whenever engaging in service projects. (Additional T-shirts can be purchased for $20/each.)
Subsidies are available for individuals who cannot afford to pay the full monthly membership fees. Please also not that while we do ask volunteers to pay a monthly membership fee, these fees to do not cover the full cost of the program. We raise funds to bridge this gap and offer financial assistance to those who need it.
Yes! Non-members can pay to join a group from DreamTeams on a service project on an ad hoc basis, provided they meet our normal membership eligibility guidelines. The cost of a single outing is currently $45 per day.
