DreamTeams is for neurodivergent adults, aged 21 and above, with mild intellectual and developmental disabilities. You do not need prior work or volunteer experience – just a willingness to roll up your sleeves, engage, learn, and support the rest of your team.

What Participation Looks Like

DreamTeams partners with community organizations all throughout the DMV, including Montgomery, Arlington, and Fairfax counties. 


Our partner sites include food banks, shelters and soup kitchens, thrift shops, community centers and community gardens.

Sample Activities

Pack meals and groceries for delivery
Sort and fold donations of clothing
Prepare or serve meals
Work in an urban garden
Assemble care packages and dignity kits

Membership

DreamTeams volunteers pay a small monthly membership free, which covers the cost of transportation to and from host sites and coaching. Active members can volunteer throughout the month, as often as they like, based on their availability and interests.

Who is DreamTeams for?

DreamTeams is open to neurotypical and neurodivergent young adults with mild cognitive and developmental challenges, aged 21 – 40.  The ideal candidate is someone who is seeking employment or additional work hours, and is looking for something productive and fun to do in their spare time.

DreamTeams may not be able to accommodate individuals who need a full-time support person or job coach, or have other significant support needs. If you are not sure whether DreamTeams is right for you, please contact us and we’ll set up a call.

No! Just a willingness to pitch in and be part of a team. Please note, we do expect volunteers to follow any guidelines and protocols of the partner site (e.g., masks, handwashing, restricted areas, etc.)

The current cost of monthly membership is $50, and active members can participate in as many activities as they wish.  Membership covers the cost of the team coaches and transportation to/from the meeting point to the project location.

Members also receive DreamTeams t-shirt which must be worn whenever engaging in service projects. (Additional T-shirts can be purchased for $20/each.)

Subsidies are available for individuals who cannot afford to pay the monthly membership fees. 

Yes! Non-members can pay to join a group from DreamTeams on a service project on an ad hoc basis, provided they meet our normal membership eligibility guidelines. The cost of a single outing is currently $45 per day.
